Portfolio Photo Shoots.

Whether it be a photographer, like myself or a model starting out, in fact everyone needs a portfolio.

A portfolio is partly based on the Latin folium, meaning "leaf, sheet". A portfolio represents a portable showcase of your talents

For this blog, I will be sharing my portfolio as well briefly share a few details regarding starting a model portfolio.

Model's Portfolio Over-View

A model portfolio is a collection of professional images and your portfolio must say something about you, agencies don't want to see pretty images, they want to see attitude, personality and ultimately how versatile you can be.

How many pictures do you need for a modelling portfolio?

Between 6 to 20 photos are appropriate for a modelling portfolio. NEVER more than 20. If you are a

brand new model just starting out, I would encourage you to work with somewhere between 6 to 10 photographs

What do you wear to a portfolio shoot?

If you are a swimwear or lingerie model, or you expect to take a few swimwear or lingerie shots at the photoshoot, you must bring your own articles of clothing.

For a modelling portfolio, don't forget to throw in some pyjamas. Many models like to bring a man's oversized shirt as well.

Here is a list of the essentials you should have in your book and tips to make them just right.

A Beauty Shot or Clean Head Shot.

A Full-Length Body Shot. ...

Swimsuit Shot. ...

Editorial Fashion Shot (Fashion Models)

A Commercial Shot (Commercial Models)

A Smiling Shot. ...

A Strong Closing Shot.

Don’t forget to include a profile page

As part of your creative modelling “resume,” you should never forget to include your information, work you’re willing to do, as well as any related acting and modelling experience, hobbies, talents, and interests—both on your printed portfolio and your online modelling portfolio on your “About Me” page. Usual key measurements and data you’ll need to include are:

Age

Height

Body measurements and sizes

Eye Color

Hair Color

Distinguishing Features (freckles, birthmarks, tattoos, etc.)

You can simply list them down or be creative with your layout, as long as they are easy to read and locate.

Building your portfolio takes a lot of time and hard work and of course you want to be successful - don't you?

In the end, it will be worth all that planning, practising poses, starting your on-line portfolio.

For those photos, of course, I would like to offer my services to you. Working together on achieving your portfolio, remember it helps me as well.
